Gowanus Food Truck Festival

I'd guess a couple of thousand people showed up today at the Gowanus Food Truck Festival at the Brooklyn Yard.

Many food trucks abounded.

But the Cinnamon Snail won out in my vegan opinion.

Here's the special of the week: A miso teriyaki seitan sub topped with kale, caramelized onions, wasabi mayonnaise and five-spice fried sunflower gomasio (what's that?), sandwiched between crusty baguette slices. Mouth still watering.

The Carroll Street bridge over a little canal that leads to the Gowanus Bay.

A dock and plant life at this industrial yard.

A canine food-truck connoisseur?

Hoboken and the Cinnamon Snail

Creole grilled tofu sub and maple mustard tempeh sandwich, both stacked with crisp vegetable goodness between toasted bread pieces that were smothered in roasted garlic aioli

This is what Catwoman and I ordered Friday afternoon from the Cinnamon Snail, the country's first organic lunch truck catering to us fussy vegans and others who only demand the best in lunch fare. Never again will you have to ask if there's cheese in this, eggs in that, gelatin in those. Well, never if you only eat here.

Down the block, its competitor sold tacos. Corpse-filled tacos.

Helicopters overhead in a bird-migration pattern.

Development along Hoboken, New Jersey's waterfront.

The Hudson River. Looking north you can see Manhattan on right, New Jersey on left, and if you squint you can spot Yonkers.

The Verrazano Narrows Bridge is the faint triangular shape emerging through the haze over New York Harbor.

Spring Blossoms and Some Geometry

On this rainy day, I noticed purple lilies had blossomed. I always photograph my neighbors' backyards from the same window, hence the same angle. So I decided to explore how I could vary my perspective based on this limitation.

I noticed I'm stuck with the same diagonal lines, jutting out at the same angle, regardless of how I hold the camera. The lines create triangles of varying sizes, which never ceases to amuse me because I love geometry. I was one of those students who didn't do well at math, but enjoyed trigonometry.

I Arrived Fashionably Late

I left with the bouffant that never was.

Saturday Afternoon

I'm especially pleased with this scene. The sun streamed through trees after a heavy rain this morning. And, no, I did not re-touch, except for adding a vignette.
